祖国のために生涯に三度従軍したほか,カレイポンによってもたらされたアポロンの神託に基づいて、市井に人々と問答し吟味しつづけたが,ついに「国家の信奉する神々を信奉せず、別の新奇な神霊を信奉し,かつ青年たちを腐敗させる」かどで告発され、死刑の宣告を受け,刑死した. |
